little bit of this. . . little bit of that

Thought it was about time just to do an update on our life!

Spring finally feels like it is here! The snow has started to melt and the sun is out. We even had a window open today for most the afternoon cause it was so warm in the house. Might have been all the work we were getting done around the house.

We got new blinds. Daniel had a fun time putting those up. But the living room looks even more amazing then it did before. It is still my favorite room in the house.

Yeah they look pretty good. The brown curtains aren't really wide enough for the window. But meh. they'll stay up till I find other ones that fit better. LOVE IT!

Our other huge accomplishment this weekend was getting the baby room cleaned up. We had to mud and sand and prime and then paint the room before I deemed it good enough for our lil monkey. Even still I'm waiting to paint a chocolate brown stripe around the room and put some shelves and pictures up, but i'm so proud of it I though I would post some pictures. Makes me feel good getting all this stuff done.

the lovely before picture with the mud spots EVERYWHERE

What it looks like now. :) Love it!
As I said, still waiting on a few more finishing touches but it's basically ready for baby! (we're hoping to get a rocker or glider for where the kitchen chair is right now.) And now that I am on Mat leave I have the time to get more stuff done. Use the energy in the day :)

Next exciting news. I am on Mat leave! It seems so long ago that I told people at work I was pregnant. And now suddenly I am on mat leave and have 6 weeks (give or take) until my baby boy comes into my world to turn it upside down for a while. But here it is. I'm sad to be done work, I really loved it and interacting with all the people I work with throughout the day. But I am glad to be able to relax at home and not be so tired at 4:00 in the afternoon. (actually that may not change.) It just makes baby seem all the more real. Kinda crazy.
Daniel was talking with his Dad the other day and so Daniel was filling him in on life for us and baby and such. He told his Dad that yeah we're excited and over the moon happy for this kid. and that it's not the labor and way this child will be brought into the world that is intimidating us. But rather the fact of actually bringing such a fragile child home. Being responsible for a baby. His dad just kinda chuckled and agreed with us. But told us that You'll figure it out.
You know what? I will. I'll figure it all out. Yeah i'm going to have frazzling days and reach the end of my rope but I have some pretty amazing friends up here more then willing to help me out. (even if my kid will be corrupt from them. . . after all i've done to their kids) I have my wonderful mother who will come up and help me out. But most importantly I have Daniel. My wonderful, handsome, crazy husband who was brave enough to "talk" me in to this and that we can do it. It's part of the journey of life we have started. And I am so glad for the man I have beside me to help me through it. He is going to be a wonderful Daddy and be able to teach his son more then I ever could.
This child is going to be so loved!

Picture of me at 34 weeks to follow. :)

The Stove

Here is that post about the stove.
You might recall I posted once about a year ago about our luck with technology.
(Techonology) Well anyway... So we have moved since then and bought a house.
The stove was pretty archaic. But we figured we would make it last until we got a sweet deal on a new one. Shortly after Christmas Dan's Dad had called us and told us that he found one. The only thing that was wrong with it was some scratches near the dials. So we jumped on that.
His Dad brought it to his house... and had to fix some things on it after the good old southern alberta wind and a faulty bungee cord got to it. But his Dad is amazing and it still looks brand new. (what a talented family I have)
We knew we wouldn't be able to pick it up until our Montana get a way but that was fine with us. Until a week and a half before we left.

It was Sunday. I had just made a wonderful dinner for us and Daniel's cousin Erin and her family. About the time I was getting the vegetables and gravy going I noticed that the stove wasn't heating. I thought weird but whatever and just cooked the veggies in the microwave and kiboshed the whole gravy.
After his cousins left I told Daniel our stove was dead. Being the man he is he had to check it over and fiddle with everything. He unplugged it and plugged it back it. Checked the fuse box. Everything was good, except for the stove not working. Oh well we could make a week and a half without one. And we did. Mind you that's when I felt like baking but I managed.
After Montana we picked up the stove and brought our new toy home.
Got home and got it plugged in.. but couldn't get any heat out of it.
fiddled with it some more. Still nothing. So we called my parents who have the same stove to see if there was something special when you first hook it up. (no there isn't). So Greg, my wonderful dad, had us check the fuse box. And flip the fuse. Guess what. That did the trick. :)
Apparently I blew a 1/2 fuse with the stove.

T-A-L-E-N-T-E-D!

But all is good now! It works wonderful.

So in total.... we have killed two stoves. We're pretty talented I'd say. (Our other Stove adventure!)
The kitchen just keeps looking better and better!

Montana Weekend!

Oh what a weekend! I almost don't want to write about it. That would just be admitting that that wonderful weekend is actually over. But it was super fun... so...

We left Wednesday and headed down to Magrath/Raymond.

Thursday we got some stuff done and headed out for Montana by 2:00. made it to the cabin by 4:30 ish. Took us some time to figure how to turn up that heat. But we got it done and then just ate dinner and relaxed. Watched a movie or two. It was lovely.

I got up Friday morning around 6:30 (LAME!) but I wasn't feeling the greatest so I got up and fell asleep on a couch till about 8:30. Then Daniel woke up. If any of you know my husband you know that he doesn't get up that early on his own... ever. But he curled up on the couch and fell asleep again while I got to read. Around 10:30 we went to Hukilau cafe (as Daniel calls it.. it's really Echo Lake Cafe. You can see how he'd mix it up... :P ) and had us some brunch. Went back to the cabin and I got to nap. (remember.. not feeling the greatest. and i'm pregnant. why am I explaining myself?) Daniel played pool and watched GI Joe. (it's a tradition of his.) We did manage to make it into Kalispell and spend money. haha found a carpet for baby's room and flooring for upstairs. Not part of the plan but it happened anyway. It was pretty darn cheap so we loaded up our car.. it looked like it was going to blast off to the moon.
We also met up with Brad and Lindsey at Famous Dave's and ate an entire chicken! They came down to spend the weekend with us. So after eating and running around some more we went back to the cabin. Laughed and talked and watched a movie. Well... Lindsey and I slept. Then Brad and Dan had some manly bonding time playing pool and tickling their wives while they tried to sleep. what pests.

Saturday we all slept in... kinda. I was up at 7:30. Lindsey shortly after and Brad shortly after. Around nine we decided it was breakfast time so I had to wake up Daniel. The four of us can make a pretty mean breakfast. Then it was time to do some more shopping especially since I had a shopping buddy! haha though I didn't get that much. haha I'm more interested in baby stuff vs my own stuff. We went out to Columbia Falls to go to the Nite Owl. It was pretty delicious. totally done eating meat for a while though. haha
got home and played Wizard. We all kinda sucked. Though I am improving. haha I wasn't the one losing.. I believe that would be Daniel. :) Then we played ping pong. Any body need entertainment? They just need to watch Lindsey and I play. haha It was kinda sad. lots and lots of laughter though which is all that matters! We were thinking I might go into early labor with all the laughter. But no. Baby is still kicking away inside me. :)

Sunday... we forgot about the time change and so we all missed church. oops! We're all heathens now I guess. We had to clean up the cabin and start packing stuff. It was bittersweet. I always hate leaving. It is so nice and relaxing. But we had to get back to life.
So we drove our rocketship of a car home. Even the border patrol felt bad for our poor car. No worries all the flooring got unloaded at my parents. (we had to bring home a stove {another story}) They'll bring it up when they come to see baby! So we spent Sunday between parentals. Daniel got to help his dad reoragnize their bedroom. Monday we spent between families. And managed to actually leave at 2:00. (that's a first) We drove pretty slow home. Didn't really want to come back to the yucky cold and snow.
(OH Montana.... +8 and no snow. WONDERFUL!)

It's good to be home though. Only two more weeks of work then it's Mat leave for me. It's kinda all coming up really fast now. Which is fine by me!

Now reality includes getting ready for Baby! :)

Final Countdown

As soon as March hits I feel like everything is around the corner.
January is just an obnoxiously long month. Nothing really happens in it except for the fact it's the start of a new year.
February is a wonderful short month that flies by!
Then March hits and you begin to realize how close Spring is. And with Spring comes many new changes.

The snow goes away.
The days get longer.
The sun gets closer.
 The days get warmer.

With this Spring though, there are a lot of new changes coming in The Fyfe Life.

Hockey is ending. :)
Farmers are getting ready to start planting, which means Daniel's work is going to get kinda busy.
My Mat leave is only 15 working days away.
Baby comes into this wonderful world.

Honestly I don't know what I feel.
I'm so excited to hold my own little bundle of joy and see the child that Daniel and I created.
I'm excited for this new phase of life.
Then there is worry too.
Will I actually know what to do when I bring baby home?
Labor... psh. Not really that worried about it.
I just wonder what it will be like bringing that tiny (hopefully) infant home and taking care of him.
Yeah I know there are going to be sleepless nights and stressful.
But, I have a wonderful Husband who will be around to help me.
I have my wonderful Mother coming up to help.
I have many wonderful Friends that I know are going to be willing to help.
And I have my Heavenly Father who trusts me with one of His children. With him, I can do this.

With that being said. . . the countdown is on.
We have 10 weeks.

Bring It On!

Family Day Weekend

I have so been looking forward to this weekend! It didn't let me down either!
Started out on Friday for me. But I didn't do much. Just prepared for Saturday-Monday.

Saturday February 16, 2013
Woke up at 6:30 and went to Edmonton to the Waterpark with the Swendsens. We even passed the Bennett's on the way.
Anyway got to the Waterpark and we had 3 adult passes and worked the system and made Kari go through so we could get the cheaper adult pass. YAY for friends with one arm! :) We played and played! I mostly just went in the wave pool and hung out with the little boys. (Can't really hit up the waterslides when you're 28 weeks pregnant.) Daniel and Barrett got to go on all the slides and enjoy the drop of doom and the loopy loop. (don't remember what they are called) But it was a blast!

****And we ended it on such a good note by losing Daniel's debit card. We took it out of the locker to get lunch and then left it with all our stuff for the last hour we were there. Then we picked it up and headed to the change room. Dan was carrying a carseat too. Got to the locker room and changed and then came out and he asked me where I put it. Well, I hadn't touched it that I remember. So we started hunting for it. Couldn't find it anywhere. They said they didn't have one turned in at the lost and found so we just called the bank and reported it stolen. As far as we knew that's what happened. Luckily it wasn't the Mastercard though. :) ****

Got back to Lloyd in time for Daniel to ref his hockey game and I went and watched. :)

Sunday February 17, 2013\
Woke up and went to Sacrament meeting. Then left and headed back to Edmonton. (just a little bit of driving this weekend!)
Roads were all right till after Vermillion. Then they turned to crap. I'm sure you're wondering why we didn't give up?
Let me tell you.
Daniel's work had gotten tickets to a dinner theater and a nights stay in the hotel.
We pushed through the yucky weather.

****As we were driving Daniel kept rubbing his foot in his shoe like it was itchy. Finally he kicked off his shoe and pulled out....(drum roll please)..... his stolen debit card!
What a shoe... robbing us blind. Oh well we got the new one on the way now. So if Daniel has lost something just ask if he put it in his shoe... That pregnancy brain got him better then me!!! SUCKER!****

Anyway, we got to the hotel. Looked kinda sketchy with some construction going on but inside was BEAUTIFUL! We got an awesome suite with a King size bed and jacuzzi tub! HEAVEN! We chilled for two hours and then went and joined his work for the dinner buffet and the play.
Dinner was divine! (Sorry, no pictures. I just ate it!) It was pretty fancy place settings though. And have I said AMAZING food? Seafood, pasta, potatoes, roast beef, veggies, breadsticks, salads. I just walked into the buffet and started drooling. Craving OVERLOAD! Daniel and I both went back twice. and then of course went a third time for dessert. (chocolate fountain, cheesecake, cookies, tarts, fruit, puddings.)
The Play started at 7:30 and was called Sheer Madness. It was a murder mystery that was interactive with the audience. Very entertaining. I would recommend going to any one.
Went back up to the hotel and just relaxed and of course tried out the jacuzzi tub. Then I got a Wonderful Nights sleep in the KING size bed. (gotta buy me one of those)

Monday February 18, 2013
Woke up at 8:30 and made it to breakfast by 9. Which was a warm Breakfast buffet (again, covered by Daniel's work) French toast, toast, fruit, cereal(THEY HAD FROOT LOOPS! craving satisfied) eggs, bacon(Daniel was in Heaven) Sausage, hasbrowns, orange juice. yum! Again, went back twice. :)

We got all packed up and checked out by 11 and then just hung around Edmonton window shopping and checking out strollers and things to keep the renos on the house going. We were quite shocked though. Didn't buy anything in Edmonton except windshield fluid. Talk about impressive hey? Got back home and now we are relaxing just enjoying the fact that tomorrow is Tuesday not Monday and Friday will come so soon!

Pictures:
just before we found the debit card

only a little yucky. the picture doesn't do the roads justice

Jacuzzi Tub. :) Now I want one of these too!

Just chilling at the hotel. Laying there watching baby kick the remote off my stomach... highly entertaining.

All ready to go! (28 weeks, .... bad picture...it makes me look bigger then I am)

How Daniel relaxes when he gets home.

I'm getting better with taking pictures. haha hopefully I keep improving for when baby gets here.

What fun! Next long weekend adventure in March.... The Cabin! :) stay tuned!

13 weeks left? WHAT?!?!

I just can't believe it. I am 27 weeks... and only have 13 left... that is just so weird. I remember when I was 13 weeks... I looked like this:

I remember thinking I was starting to show. (bah! I want that body back.. those boobs included..TMI)
I was feeling great! Finally over the morning sickness and able to do so much more! I was even sleeping at night.

Now here I am at 27 weeks with only 13 weeks left:

ps... these are the same yoga pants as me in 13 weeks. :)
I don't feel as big as I look. I think the camera makes me look bigger then I actually am. I feel great though! I can still touch my toes (even if I can't see them.)
This little monkey is starting to wake me up at night. Just a little though. Doesn't keep me up luckily!

Oh and so on Tuesday I had my Gestational Diabetes Screen Test.
I had heard stories that you need to "fast" before hand. So when I called to book the appointment and they asked me if I had to fast I was kinda confused. After talking with them for a bit they told me I only had to fast for it if my Doctor told me I had too. So I called them. And they said that I didn't... But I had heard stories that people had to at least three hours after a meal. So I went to work.. at lunch at 12:30 and had my appointment at 4:00.
I went in and told them and they seemed fine with it. So I went to the back to drink orange syrup!
That's really what it tasted like. A little to sticky and thick. GROSS! and in 5 minutes too! There's not that much of it but when a time limit is set it seems like WAY to much. But I managed it and didn't feel too sick after. Just like I had to burp. though I was scared to. The hour passed, they drew my blood and sent me home. I find out on Tuesday if everything is where it should be. :)

That's this life in an quick update!
:)
