I woke up this morning and I had butterflies flying around in my tummy. That's how excited/nervous I was for the first day of school. I got out the door by 8:05 and everything was perfect. I was about a block away when I hit some severe traffic. I'm talking I was stuck in my car for ten minutes in front of the school! How lame. I'm tardy for my first day of school! (someone shoulda warned me about the traffic! sheesh) Then I finally make it into the parking lot and the car in front of me starts backing up....and just kept going. I looked behind me saw the all clear and backed up like two feet... but the front car just kept backing up. I honked and they still hit me!!!!!!! IN THE SCHOOL PARKING LOT! (I swear there is a target on my car)
Luckily nothing happened to my poor Stanley. just a little dent under his eye. (some people's kids) So I walked into the school 10 minutes late. Luckily I wasn't the only one. There were a few teachers too who got stuck in the traffic jam!
Got to the room and there are kids galore.
Never noticed this as a kid but on the first day of school the teachers are so out of it! you have no idea what to expect and it's just organized chaos! (exactly). Why the students don't take advantage of it= they are soi excited to be back at school and to be with their teacher! :P HAH! bring on the next week when its not so fun anymore.
Anyway. Made it through the morning. Unpacked supplies. walked the school. had an assembly. Recess. Snack. Lunch!
After lunch I am in a different Grade 4 room. Working one on one with a student.
To sum the afternoon up .... I felt like I was drowning.
Luckily I got lots of help... After school... And we should be able to make it through tomorrow better then today!
:)
...ps tomorrow is Hump Day... is it sad i'm already looking forward to the weekend on Day 1? :P
