Ear tubes/party in Calgary!

June 9 was the big day for Max to get tubes in his ears. Not a huge deal surgery wise but still nerve wracking. Glad it's over.

We went up Monday night and stayed with Tony and Sassa in their awesome new house! It's beautiful! They even kept Sean in mind and built him his own room under the stairs!! Haha how thoughtful. (Really just a grand kid space but Sean was super happy when I told him that he bed was in there. Awesome kid!)

Of course we stayed up way to late visiting. Max went to bed at 10 and Sean was in bed by 11. To much fun. Max slept all night hallelujah! Even though I didn't at least he slept good.

I tossed and turned all night and not because the bed wasn't comfy. That bed was one giant pillow! Just tossed a turned because apparently that's what you do the night before you have to gt up at 5:30 to take your kid in for surgery. Who knew?!?!

We got up and out a little after 6 and I took Max up to get all checked in. We had to wait out in the hallway for a bit till the doors for the short stay opened up. Then did another check in and got assigned to a bed. During that waiting I was talking with parents around us and found another couple with a little girl with a soft palate cleft. Same age as Max and coming in for ear tubes. They were fun to visit with and compare notes on our cleft palate babies. The other mom I met had a little guy as well. He was around one though and going in for something a little more traumatic. It was good to visit and pass time.

After we got assigned out beds we had more waiting to do till a nurse came and weighed him and asked me questions and everything. We spent an hour or so waiting on the nurse. It was just before 7 when we got a bed and just before 8 when we actually went back to surgery. Max did so good in all that waiting. Especially for a kid that hadn't eaten since 10:00 at night. Yikes. He was such a happy trooper though.

Just before 8 when the nurse finally came over we weighed his little chunk and he was 15.8lbs. Good little monster. After all that was done. I met with the anesthesiologist and surgeon (dr Yunker) they gave a brief run down of what was happening. They asked if I had any questions which i really didn't. Then they took him. Saddest part. And I went and sat in a waiting room. (All this waiting!!! Bah!!) luckily one of the parents I was visiting with earlier was in there. So we talked some more. Way better than trying to read or focus on anything else. 10 mins late the doctor was in the waiting room. I kinda freaked for a second seeing him until he said it all went well and Max was waking up and would be back in our room soon.

Sure enough 2 mins later the little timer they had given me went off a singing and buzzing and 30 seconds later I had my little boy again. He just looked up at me with those beautiful big eyes and yelled at me. Haha he was so stinking hungry. So I warmed up his bottle and fed him. He ate so fast and well I didn't even need to squeeze the nipple for him.

We only had to wait in the hospital for 30mins after he got back and then we got to go!! So sweet!
This is the only photo I took and it's after I fed him and was getting him ready to go! Haha :)

We went back to grab our stuff at Tony and Sassa's and hen met up for lunch. Then crashed at Whitney's house and let the kids play!! And boy did they play their little hearts out!

My favorite picture!

It was so much fun hanging out with those guys! I love how the kids just play play play!

I also love having family up in Calgary that lets us stay with them! It is so wonderful! Makes all this travel for Max easier and makes the stress of it all just a little bit less! Thanks!!! Until next time!
