Thelma and Sophie

Well it's time to write another blog post about. . . . . . . . .
our cars.
Some days I think we have the worst/best luck with them.

Well here is the latest story on Thelma (2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue)
Thelma has been revving high, taking time with starting, and randomly shutting off on you while driving! (just to name a few). Dan was constantly telling me how we needed to get a new vehicle. Me, being the cheap one just said oh it's fine keep driving it or let someone hit it. We're not getting a new one until it's dead. (I forgot to knock on wood with that one). So let's go to September 27 we were on our way home from helping some friends out driving Thelma. It's a very rare occurrence when we use that as the family car. So driving Thelma and this truck in front of us is being an idiot and can't decide what lane he is going to be in. He finally makes up his mind and Dan goes to pass him. Idiot decides to switch lanes without shoulder checking or signally or anything remotely legal and acceptable to do. It was all slow motion from there. Dan thinking about what to do; let him hit the driver side of the car and scratch and smash it to get it written off OR brake and hope he misses us. My thought was YES this car is toast and we'll all be fine! Dan's was the more responsible one. . . Indie and Sean are in the car.
Dan braked. Idiot missed us. No write off for Thelma. Everyone okay.

October 1
I went into Vermilion to take Dan out for lunch. We had a lovely visit and as usual the car came up about how it keeps getting worse. It'll be fine! (my thoughts. . . yet again forgot to knock on wood) I kissed him and Sean and I headed home. I got a call just after 5 with Dan saying Thelma wouldn't start. Wouldn't even turn over. AS IF!!!! So he brought a work truck home and we started browsing Kijiji. Got Thelma towed to a shop they checked it out. . we decided not worth our time to fix.
Found an amazing deal on Kijiji for a 2004 Chevy Optra with 140,000 on it. Not bad hey? So Every one meet Sophie. Dan's new cute little Car.
When people ask what the car is I always wanna say Optimus Prime for some reason. .
More manly name for a car but
it's just so little and cute!

It's really super nice. and was a sweet cheap deal for us with nothing to fix. Yet again we got lucky finding someone who just wanted to get rid of a vehicle. We're doing something right to be so blessed!
Here's to hoping this car lasts a good long time! :)
